FAQ

What data will be visible on the site?

  • The objective of the Transparency legislation is to allow taxpayers to have visibility into how funds are spent within the State. The University is in the process of designing the data file that will be provided based on criteria provided by the State. Once that “blueprint” is complete, we will be able to share more specific details and examples. At a high level though, users of the site will be able to view data in the aggregate by where funds were spent, how funds were spent, and the sources of funding – down to the transaction level.

Will protected data involving students or patients be visible?

  • No, the State and the University must comply with FERPA and HIPAA regulations. Data that is protected will be “masked” so as to protect covered individuals.

When will the financial data be available on the State’s website, TransparentUtah.gov?

  • May 15, 2009
