Jeffrey J. West, Associate VP for Financial & Business Services, has accepted the position of VP for Finance & Administration/CFO at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC), and therefore will be leaving the University. Jeff has been a dedicated and impactful leader here at the University for over 15 years, with many accomplishments to his credit. He has built an effective and influential support organization (Financial & Business Services) which has largely achieved its stated vision of being “an organization of competent and caring professionals who take personal ownership in finding answers to questions and solutions to problems; and who are innovative, resourceful, collaborative, and helpful in facilitating stewardship and accountability of the institution’s financial resources”. Jeff’s leadership has brought about many successes in the university’s quest to modernize its business/finance systems, maintain its compliance requirements with state and federal agencies, educate and support the campus community in the principles of financial stewardship, and keep the institution on a sound financial footing during these past 15 years of tremendous growth. He has also raised the visibility and involvement of the University at both the regional and national [university] business officer level, bringing positive recognition to the university and its programs – most notably by being the recipient of two awards from the National Association of College & University Business Officers (NACUBO): i.e., the Professional Development Award (2009) and the Daniel D. Robinson Accounting Award (2017). We ask you to join us in wishing Jeff happiness and success in his new role at SLCC. He will begin his new duties there on February 1, 2019. At a date to be determined, we will be recognizing Jeff at a formal departure event.
