Departments in the Controller’s Area:

Accounts Payable - responsible for non-payroll payments to vendors and individuals and limited purchase checks (LPC’s) Endowment and Investment Accounting - responsible for accounting for University endowments and investments including the quarterly earnings distributions. General Accounting – responsible for annual financial reporting, general accounting services such as journal entries and monthly management reports, and bank reconciliations. Responsible for debt service payments related to bonds.

e-Commerce and Payment Cards - The e-Commerce and Payment Cards team provides training and guidance for areas of campus that want to accept credit cards – whether over the internet or at point of sale locations. Grants and Contracts Accounting – responsible for post-award financial management activities related to grants and contracts such as award setup, cost sharing, award closeout, letter of credit, and billing. Income Accounting and Student Loans – responsible for student tuition bills, disbursement of aid, and administration of student loans. Also responsible for the departmental cash deposit process .

Management Accounting and Analysis – responsible for the PAR process, for researching and reporting on various compliance issues, and for working with external auditors. Provides training on effort reporting and other compliance related topics for principal investigators. Prepares the University’s cost study for purposes of negotiating facilities and administrative cost rates. Property Accounting – responsible for moveable equipment inventory and procedures related to equipment disposal. Maintains University capital asset records. Tax – responsible for all University tax issues including W2’s, 1099’s, 1042S, 1098T’s, and unrelated business income evaluation. Prepares various annual tax returns for the University and related entities including IRS Form 990 and IRS Form 990T.
