The Utah Procurement Code provides that a procurement may be made without competition when the University determines that there is only one source that can reasonably meet the University’s need for the required supply or service, as described in Utah Code Ann. § 63G-6a-802.
The Purchasing Department has received the following request for sole source procurement:

Sole Source Justification: This Sole Source request is to license additional functionality for Gale, improving the basic functionality in the current statewide Library Database System purchased from Gale. This system is licensed by the University’s UETN on behalf of all USHE, K-12, and Libraries in Utah. These database enhancements from Gale are fully integrated with the current system. The added functionality of Gale in Context High School and Global Issues and national geographic kids is uniquely available from this single supplier. This agreement will be adding these 3 3 products as additional tool to our current Gale Agreement. These tools are proprietary to Gale and not offered from any other supplier.
This sole source will have a duration thought June 2024 and will cost over $50,000.
