Ag Centers are expected to conduct high quality research and help translate scientific discoveries into practical applications to improve worker safety and health in the areas of agriculture, forestry, and fishing.

NIOSH Centers of Excellence for Total Worker Health (U19)

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to provide funding for Centers of Excellence for Total Worker Health®. Support of this program will further advance an emerging field of science and practice and address the needs of the 21st century workforce by means of research, intervention, and outreach activities.

Edward J. Mallinckrodt Jr. Foundation-Mallinckrodt Scholar Awards

The mission of the Foundation is to support early stage investigators engaged in basic biomedical research that has the potential to significantly advance the understanding, diagnosis or treatment of disease. The funds are designed to provide faculty members who hold M.D. and/or Ph.D. degrees, and are in their fifth to eighth year of a tenure-track position, with support to move the project forward to the point where other independent funding can be obtained. Candidates may have an R01.

Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program

The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program supports the research and teaching careers of talented young faculty in the chemical sciences. Based on institutional nominations, the program provides discretionary funding to faculty at an early stage in their careers. Criteria for selection include an independent body of scholarship attained in the early years of their appointment (see below), and a demonstrated commitment to education, signaling the promise of continuing outstanding contributions to both research and teaching. The Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program provides an unrestricted research grant of $75,000.

Dana Foundation-David Mahoney Neuroimaging Grant Program

Emphasis in the David Mahoney Neuroimaging program is on assisting promising early career investigators to obtain pilot study data concerning novel hypotheses that will help them compete for larger-scale funding from other sources. To be eligible, applicants must have faculty appointments. Early career investigators most often are investigators at the assistant professor level and those who are in their early years of their associate professor appointments. Senior investigators may apply only if the proposed study represents a new research direction. Please see eligibility criteria specified in the RFP. Post-docs are not eligible to apply unless they can provide evidence that they will have a faculty appointment prior to the start of the grant period.

David and Lucille Packard Fellowships for Science and Engineering

The Fellowship Program provides support for highly creative researchers early in their careers; faculty members who are well established and well-funded are less likely to receive the award. Packard Fellows are inquisitive, passionate scientists and engineers who take a creative approach to their research, dare to think big, and follow new ideas wherever they lead.

Moore Inventor Fellows
Internal Submission Deadline: November 16, 2017

Candidates must be faculty, research scientists, postdocs, or other full-time staff at eligible institutions. Candidates must be within ten years of receiving the advanced terminal degree in their field (M.S., Ph.D. or M.D.).

We aim to support inventions at an early stage that could lead to proof-of-concept work on an invention or advance an existing prototype that tackles an important problem. We seek innovations with the promise of making a long-lasting impact by addressing underlying problems in their field, but a clear path toward commercialization is not a requirement. We are not interested in supporting projects that are already at a stage where significant venture capital is available. The foundation’s policy is that intellectual property that results from a grant must be managed and disseminated in a manner that leads to the greatest impact. Each award will include IP terms to reflect the needs of that project.

Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program
Internal Submission Deadline: November 16, 2017

The Henry Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program is open to academic institutions in the States, Districts, and Territories of the United States of America that grant a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the chemical sciences, including biochemistry, materials chemistry, and chemical engineering. Awardees are typically in departments that do not grant a doctoral degree. Nominees must hold a full-time tenure-track academic appointment, be after the fourth and not after the twelfth years of their independent academic careers, and be engaged in research and teaching primarily with undergraduates.
